Application Delivery Network:
Application delivery network (ADN) takes care of application acceleration, security and availability; enhances the delivery of applications across the Internet by employing a number of optimization techniques. ADN has two components – WAN Optimization Controller (WOC) and Application Delivery Controller (ADC). ADC is responsible for distributing traffic among a number of servers or geographically dislocated sites based on application specific criterion. WOC employs objectless caching techniques to reduce the number of bits that flow over the network, and shapes TCP traffic using prioritization and other optimization techniques.
Optimization techniques employed by ADN:
TCP Multiplexing
TCP Optimization
Data compression and Caching,
Reliability and availability techniques used in ADN:
Advanced health checking
Load balancing algorithms
Fault Tolerance
Network based failover and
Serial based failover
ADN security:
Transport layer security using SSL
Application layer security – using resource clocking and application firewall
Network layer security like delayed binding, IP filtering |
